Help

Answers to common questions about Timr, whether you're an employee using the Timr app or a manager using app.timr.is. Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch and we'll help.

1. Contact us

Email us at hjalp@timr.is. We usually reply within one business day.

If your question is about your own shifts or hours, contact your employer first. They plan the shifts and manage the time records, and we can't change them on their behalf.

2. Getting started with the app

The Timr app is for employees of companies that use Timr. To get started:

  • Your employer adds you to Timr and sends you an invitation by email.
  • Download Timr from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Sign in with your email and password, with Apple or with Google.

Once you're signed in, you'll see your shifts as soon as your employer publishes them. Draft schedules don't appear in the app.

3. Clocking in and out, and location

Timr reads your device's location only at the moment you clock in or out — never in the background, and never while the app is closed.

  • Clocking in: if your workplace uses location verification, you need to be at the workplace when you clock in, and the app then needs access to your device's location.
  • Clocking out always goes through, even away from the workplace. Your manager is then notified, and you can add a note to explain.

To give the app access to your location: on iPhone, open Settings › Timr › Location and choose “While Using the App”. On Android, open Settings › Apps › Timr › Permissions › Location and allow access while using the app.

4. Notifications

Timr notifies you when your shifts change, and sends reminders — for example if you've forgotten to clock out.

Choose which notifications you get in the app under Profile › Notifications. To turn them off entirely, use your device's notification settings.

5. Language

The app follows your account's language, which is Icelandic by default. You can switch to English in the app under Profile › Language.

6. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time. Your user account and sign-in details are then permanently deleted, including any links to Apple or Google. Deletion cannot be undone.

  • In the app: open Profile, tap Delete account and confirm. Your account is deleted immediately.
  • Without the app: email hjalp@timr.is from the address registered to your account and ask for it to be deleted. We handle the request within 30 days.

Shifts and clock entries are your employer's working-time records. Your employer is the data controller for them and is legally required to keep them — accounting records, for example, for seven years under Icelandic Act no. 145/1994 on Accounting. They may therefore be retained after your account is deleted, but are no longer linked to it. If you are the only owner of a company in Timr, the company is deleted with your account and its subscription cancelled; the app shows you which companies are affected before you confirm.
